The Paul Drake book series is a celebrated series of contemporary espionage novels derived in part from the author’s prior experience as a US intelligence officer. Kirkus Reviews lauded Strange’s debut novel, Against the Dusk, published in 2021, as “a frenetic indulgence for fans of espionage adventures” and an “accomplished political espionage thriller.”

Eastern Lights, the third in the series, begins at the outbreak of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and is scheduled for publication later in 2023.
